A short jaunt from the center and you’ll find Karlin Studios, a gallery space comprised of art studios housed in former military baracks, today a budding eclectic cultural center. Inhabiting a former factory until 2016, Karlin Studios have been a part of the Karlín neighborhood even before it was considered the cool place to be. Karlin Studios function as a multi-purpose cultural center, allowing local and international artists the chance to create under one roof. There are two galleries: the first focuses on young Czech alternative art and the second gives a voice to those artists in residence. From April of 2017, Karlin Studios inhabits a space in Prague’s newest and possibly most ambitious cultural space called Kasáren Karlín. This new space will be run by the same team which successfully tranformed Nákladové nadraží Žižkov into a cultural hot spot of alternative culture. Kasáren Karlín is set to open in June 2017.
